Profile

Ashley has had extensive and significant experience practising in Australian migration and business laws, as well as other practice areas such as trade finance, business acquisitions, international business transactions and structuring, civil litigation, employment, taxation, defamation, and military disciplinary and administrative laws.

Ashley has represented employers and visa applicants across a wide range of migration matters, including for listed entities and overseas businesses. She has a particular expertise in business investment, employment sponsorship and partner visas.

Throughout her decade-long practice in Australian migration law, Ashley has successfully assisted clients in varying difficult personal circumstances, such as LGBTIQ+, unlawfully in Australia, criminal, visa refusal, visa cancellation and immigration detention history, to obtain appropriate Australian visas.

Ashley has also acted for Australian and international clients from several countries for business, corporate, commercial and litigious matters, and has a broad knowledge of not just Australian, but also Chinese and Singaporean legal jurisdictions to provide effective and holistic legal solutions and strategies. With her prior in-house corporate counsel experience and as a private practice solicitor, Ashley is able to offer tailored business and commercial solutions suitable to meet the needs of each client’s unique circumstances in order to achieve the desired outcome.

In addition to her work in private practice, Ashley is also a member of the Australian Defence Force in the Army Reserves, and is a Legal Officer of the Major rank in the Australian Army Legal Corps and the Military Legal Service.

Ashley is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin), and is conversant in Hokkien.

    • Litigation arising from alleged infringement of intellectual property, and which involves the imposition of Norwich Pharmacal orders and completion of forensic IT searches.

    • Litigation arising from the publication of allegedly defamatory material on a public review website, and which involves the issuing of a Concerns Notice and the consideration of the 'serious harm' element in defamation proceedings.

    • Fair Work Australia investigations into alleged underpayments.
